Updating Boiler Elements

Hellgate Plumbing wants to share some pictures from a customer project involving Erie zone valves, a Tekmar zone control, and a Taco ECM smart pump. Even with an older boiler system, we still have the ability to modernize these boiler elements. Updating these elements can help the system perform better, and it can help decrease operating energy levels.

Call us today if you need any of these elements replaced for your boiler system!

Signs of a Water Heater Needing Repair or Replacement

Hellgate Plumbing installs several water heaters every month. There are several occasions where our technicians are called out to repair a water heater, but end up replacing the unit altogether because they find other issues with the system.

Hellgate Plumbing has general tips and signs about your water heater needing repair or replacement:

• The water heater is over 10 years old
• The water heater is leaking
• Hot water runs out at a faster rate compared to previous years
• Water is discolored or has weird odor
• The water heater makes loud popping noises during the heating stage
• Water is luke warm instead of hot
• Hot water pressure is decreasing, very low
• Frequent fluctuations in water temperature (changing from luke warm, to very hot, to cold)
• Corrosion occurring near the bottom of the water heater

If you think your water heater is experiencing any of these issues listed above, call Hellgate Plumbing to help repair or replace your water heater today!

Sound Differences Between York 13-seer and 17-seer Air Conditioning Units

Temperatures are continuing to rise throughout the week, and Hellgate Plumbing wants to make sure you are staying cool by having a new high efficiency York AC unit in your home!

We have installed 13-seer and 17-seer York AC units over the summer. 13-seers are less expensive compared to 17-seers, but the noise difference between the 2 units is incredible. We highly recommend installing 17-seer units that are more efficient and much quieter, making it peaceful for you and your neighbors!

We have videos of each unit. The first video is a 17-seer unit, and the second video is a 13-seer unit. Listen to each video to hear the difference between the 2!!

Cleaning Furnace Filters

Happy Friday everyone, and more importantly, Happy HVAC day!!

We wanted to share this picture of a furnace filter we discovered at a residential home. As you can see, this filter hasn’t been changed out in a very long time. With this much dirt and dust piled up in the filter, it could easily affect the efficiency and life of your furnace, along with affecting the air quality. We strongly recommend residential owners to replace their filters once every few months, or even once a month if you have several animals and lots of activity. Replacing a filter can be a easy thing to miss, but it can be a simple game changer for your furnace’s life down the road.
